The BTEC course is a vocational qualification, accredited by the Edexcel exam board, which has been developed by a company called 'a2om' (said 'atom'). 

                                    

The course is integrated with your normal driving lessons and includes continuous assessment both in-car and online.  There are 5 modules, modules 1 to 4 leading to the driving test, which is an integral part of the course, and module 5 being a post-test module, which means you won't have to pay out for extra post-test training, such as Pass Plus.
